The old mill area dates back to the 17th century. In the mill park you will find several old buildings, a Siemens-Martin plant, the old fire station and "Lilla bruket" - a model museum. The focus of this museum is the Munkfors Mill in the year 1890, which was a very exciting year in the history of Munkfors. Today Munkfors is one of the few towns in Sweden that still live on the iron industry.

In 2025, the captivating virtual reality experience Munkfors Bruk VR moved into the building known as Lilla Bruket, where you will also find Fröken Ruth's Café. Here, you're invited on a journey back in time to explore Munkfors Bruk as it looked over a century ago.

Using virtual reality technology, you’ll step straight into the industrial environment of the early 1900s and experience a day in the life of a worker at the ironworks. It’s a unique opportunity to not only witness how steel production was carried out in the past, but also to gain a vivid sense of everyday life in a bygone industrial community.

For those who prefer a calmer experience, Munkfors Bruk VR also offers an Explorer Mode – perfect for diving deeper into the history and surroundings of the ironworks at your own pace.

Please note that Munkfors Bruk VR is available exclusively in Swedish. Nevertheless, it provides an engaging and vivid glimpse into life at the ironworks around the early 1900s.
