The house wasbuilt in 1867by the churchcaretaker and carpenterJ.P. Westbom. It got itsname after theFröding family movedin in 1868. The family includedGustaf's mother, Emilia, his father, Ferdinand, and his sistersCecilia, Anna Matilda, and Hedda. Gustafwas eight yearsold at thetime.

He lived herefor 12 yearsbefore moving toUppsala to study. Gustaf's bedroom wasthe room onthe left sideof the attic.

Frödingsgården isa type ofhouse that wascommon in Kristinehamnduring the mid-1800s and later. The entrances stillhave their originaldoors with beautifulpatterned iron grilles. There is alsoa memorial plaqueon the house, which was putup in 1929.
