Östa

The tranquillity and nature of Östa Nature Reserve has much to offer visitors all year round. Long sandy beaches with old pine trees, hiking trails through the forest and vast bogs await. The area borders Färnebofjärden National Park.

Sandy beaches and calm river The kilometer-long sandy beaches along the Dalälven are suitable for both sunbathing and swimming as well as hiking. If you're keen to get out on the water, you can hire canoes at the campsite. The waters around Östa are rich in pike, zander and perch. Bring your own boat and put in at designated places, or rent one at the campsite. You can also buy your fishing license there.

On the northern shore of Östa you will find the Östa beaches. Here grow old gnarled pines with roots that have been washed out by the sea waves.

Bird tower at Norrland bog Visit the gem at Stormossen where there is a bird tower. Feel free to go here in the autumn, Stormossen's all mosses and rice are most beautiful in autumn colors.

Hiking in the forest There are many hiking trails through the reserve and you can easily find a round of between a couple and 10 km. The trails provide great opportunities to do various forest walks. The western and north-western parts of the reserve are easy to reach, while the area around Andersboviken has more of a wilderness character. The Ljusbäcksleden trail leads you all the way to Tärnsjö.
