Beskrivelse
A ship, a horse and an axe. It takes a little imagination to see what the thousands of years old images carved into the rock are supposed to represent. But Hemsta's many rock carvings from the Bronze Age are an impressive sight. On the so-called Hemstahällen there is a large carving with around 500 different figures! How long did they take to make and what tools were used?
Hemsta Nature Reserve is a pasture area grazed by animals. Smooth rocky outcrops stand out among the junipers, sloe berry bushes and rose hips, some with rock carvings painted red.
Almond blossom, wood anemone and other flowers and plants that thrive in open pastures are found here. Bring a picnic to Hemsta on a nice day, are there any nicer picnic areas than well-grazed pastures? The road divides the reserve into two parts. In the northern part it is nice to wander around and look at the vegetation. In the southern part, you'll find the figure-rich Hemsta hill.
Remember that there are occasionally grazing animals in the pasture. Walk around the animals and keep your dog on a leash.

Rutevejledning
Hemsta nature reserve is located 7 km south of Enköping.
By car: Drive out of Enköping to the southeast, along Boglösavägen. Follow the sign for Veckholm as you drive out of the community. After about 5 km turn right on a small road towards Hemsta. Drive about 100 m to the parking lot.
Regler
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- digging, hoeing or otherwise damaging the soil surface
- remove carvings without the permission of the county administrative board
- break branches, fell or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs
- dig up plants
- bring an unleashed dog or deliberately disturb wildlife
- drive a motorized vehicle and park outside the designated road and parking area
- set up a house or trailer
- ride, camp or make a fire
- use musical devices, musical instruments etc. in a disruptive manner
- put up a board, poster, poster, sign, inscription or similar device
Regulations and prohibitions in laws and other statutes apply in addition to this.
