Granåsen

In the Granåsen nature reserve, the mighty Uppsalaåsen rises and forms a steep ridge through the landscape. A windmill stood on top of the ridge in the 1800s. The foundation is still there. Adjacent to it is the old Kvarnkojan where those who worked in the mill lived. The grassy area in front of Kvarnkojan is today a popular gathering place, perfect for playing, grilling and picnicking! There are fireplaces, tables and benches and several information signs about nature in the area.

If you want to move around, there are easy paths. The paths go through coniferous forest with over a hundred-year-old pines and spruces. Hike a bit on the Upplandsleden trail, or along the 2 km long electric light trail that runs in a loop through the area. In winter, the electric light trail is tracked for skiing. Below the crest of the ridge is Granstigen, from where you can get a view of Lilla Ullfjärden.

Between Kvarnkojan and the parking lot at Teknikbacken runs the accessible Tallstigen, 300 m long. Along the path there is an adapted coffee table, a sofa and signs about nature. The path from the parking lot at Smedsstugan and up to Kvarnkojan is easy to walk and can be walked with a stroller, but has a steep slope. At the back of Granåsenstugan, next to Kvarnkojan, there are toilets, one of which is accessible.
