Beskrivelse
After extensive felling in the middle of the 20th century, the deciduous willows have been allowed to grow. These middle-aged deciduous trees of aspen and birch have escaped modern forestry and are now allowed to develop in peace and quiet. The deciduous trees stand in a hill moraine landscape that was formed when the ice sheet retreated 8 000 years ago. The retreating ice sheet contained till. As the ice melted, moraine and ice clumps were deposited, which eventually became moraine hills with intermediate depressions and valleys.

Rutevejledning
At Hammerdal, turn off the E45 onto road 344 towards Sikås. In Sikås, drive towards Raftsjöhöjden. Just before Sikåskälen, turn right. At the first crossroads, keep left, then keep right and drive to the turnaround and you are there.
Regler
Welcome to Sikåskälen. Please note that within the nature reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot,
- disturbing the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
