Beskrivelse
The nature reserve consists of the valuable watercourse Långsån with surrounding forest and marshland. The river is home to the endangered river pearl mussel, which is the main reason for the creation of the reserve. Långsån is 3.6 kilometers long and flows between the lakes Lången and Stensjön. On its journey south, the river passes both forest and small marsh areas. In the north, the river forms small rapids and falls, while to the south it flows slowly.

Rutevejledning
The reserve is located less than a mile north of Ytterhogdal. From Ångevägen in Ytterhogdal, take Buanvägen north along Hoan. After Buan keep right and after 2.5 kilometers there is a gated forest road down to Långsån. Leave the car and walk the last bit.
Regler
Welcome to Långsån. Keep in mind that in the reserve it is not allowed to:
- catch, disturb or harm river pearl mussels, mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, as well as damaging their nests and spawning grounds or collecting eggs
- picking and collecting species of any kind, except berries and edible mushrooms
- panning for gold or other substances
- climbing nest trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make a fire, other than with firewood
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
