46. Valskaftet - Gräftåvallen (medel)

Valskaftet is a mountain farm located below the mountain of the same name. You can reach it by hiking from Prästbodarna towards Valskaftet or from Galåbodarna/Nybodarna (no. 45 in the guide Hiking near the mountains). Valskaftrumpan is a rocky hill just below the 1000-meter limit. From here you have a nice view of the surroundings. To hike towards Gräftåvallen, you can continue along the Jämt-Norgevägen at the height of the tree line. The pilgrim trail continues and a little west of Ljåbodarna there is a shelter for overnight stays. If you choose not to take the detour towards Ljåbodarna, you will soon reach Marntallsåsen nature reserve. Here there are a lot of unmarked paths between different sheds and embankments. There is no straight path towards Gräftåvallen and you should choose a suitable route. If you choose to walk via Västnårbodarna, you leave the Jämt-Norway road and get oriented towards Mustvallen and Bugårdsbodarna. The whole area is dominated by marshland that was once known for its rich presence of cloudberries.
