Beskrivelse

From Fjällgården in Gräftåvallen, follow the signs that say "summer trail to the mountain". The trail turns off towards the slalom slope and continues straight up towards the turning wheel. Follow the summer trail towards Arådalen. The trail is marked with alternating red-painted stones and posts.

After 4 kilometers you will come to Tväråstugan, a rest shelter where you can go in and rest or eat your lunch. 150 meters west of the hut the trail splits. Choose the trail towards Arådalen and wade across Tvärån. If the water level is high, you can walk a few hundred meters upstream when it is easier to find stones to climb on. After a kilometer uphill you are on a high plateau with some small shallow lakes. Then it goes downhill.

The trail now follows a stream and here are many nice resting places. At the next crossroads, follow the trail towards Storgräftån. It is marked with posts that are painted blue/orange.

The trail can end at a smaller road that goes to Storgräftån. From there you follow the road to Gräftåvallen. It is also possible to follow the marking with poles to the left about 500 meters above the turnaround. Then you will pass Tvärån on a simple bridge and can then follow the markings for another 2 kilometers along the mountain edge until Fjällgården.

The mountains are a cultural landscape and reindeer herding takes place in several places. This is also the case in Bergs municipality. The Tåssåsens Sami village operates here with around 50 members and around 9,000 reindeer in the summer herd. Visitor pressure in the mountains is increasing and with it the risk of impact on reindeer husbandry. It is important that you, as a mountain visitor, show consideration and know how to act where reindeer herding is carried out.

Keep this in mind when you are in the mountains:

  • Always leave the reindeer alone. If you come across reindeer, take a wide detour around or sit down quietly and wait for them to pass.
  • Keep your dog on a leash where there are reindeer. A loose dog can cause great disturbance and harm to the reindeer and reindeer herding work.
  • Follow marked trails.
  • Avoid disturbing reindeer at snow camps, they stay there to protect themselves from heat and troublesome insects.
  • Avoid camping in lush valleys.
  • Cycle on roads and trails intended for cycling.
  • At hållbarafjäll.nu you can keep up to date on where you can stay without disturbing the reindeer, both during calving and calf marking (April 20-July 20) and during moose hunting and the reindeer's rutting period (September 1-October 25).

Bakker

When you hike the round trip, you walk on bare rock for a large part. You are then exposed to wind and precipitation. There are steep slopes.

Vegetation

At Tvärån, you need to be careful when crossing the river. After rain and when the snow melts, the river is high and can be difficult to cross.

Parkering

You can park at Fjällgården and start your hike there.

Rutevejledning

If you come on the gravel road from Myrviken, just follow the signs along the road up to Gräftåvallen.

From Hallen, take the road towards Bydalen/Höglekardalen. 3.5 kilometers before Bydalen, turn left over the bridge, which goes over Dammån. Follow the gravel road until the T-junction where you turn right and drive 2 kilometers up the slopes to Gräftåvallen.
