The reserve is located three miles south of Östersund. From the E45 highway you drive on the eastern side of Näkten, via Grönviken and Gäle to Mon. In Mon, you have to leave the car because the road to follow, the second forest road to the left, is blocked. It's a three-kilometer walk to the reserve from here, first along the forest road and then along a marked path.

Welcome to Gäle Naturskog. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:

• make fires
• capture, disturb or harm mammals, birds, frogs and reptiles, as well as damage their nests and spawning grounds or collect eggs
• climbing nest trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, roost or burrow
• disturbing the ground, boulders or vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
• picking and collecting natural products (e.g. wood fungi, lichens and mosses) with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms
• collecting invertebrates, such as beetles and land molluscs
• driving motorized vehicles off-road throughout the area
• marking trails, organizing orienteering checks or holding competitions
• constructing snowmobile trails.

Paragraph 2 does not prevent the practice of hunting. Point 7 does not prevent the off-road transportation of felled moose. This presupposes that vehicles with low ground pressure are used and that a suitable route is chosen for transport.
