Beskrivelse
The forest has remained virtually untouched since the last forest fire in 1868.
The reserve consists largely of old fire-affected coniferous forest with centuries-old stands of pine. Throughout the area there is plenty of dead wood, both standing and lying dry trees.
The reserve was established to preserve the old coniferous forest, favor the old pines and sun-exposed, dead pine wood and create suitable habitats for wood-living beetles.
Animals and plants
Långåsberget is home to a number of rare species, such as the scull lichen, lung lichen, violet-grey thorn lichen, barn owl and grey woodpecker.

Rutevejledning
The reserve is located in Värmlands län, Torsby municipality, about 10 kilometers northeast of Värnäs/Stöllet. The reserve does not have its own parking lot. The best way for car travelers to get to the reserve is to go to the parking lot of the nearby reserves Fänstjärnsskogen and Skavåsen as shown below. From Stöllet take the E45 towards Malung, after 4.5 kilometers turn right - signposted "Naturreservat". After about 3 kilometers you come to the parking lot for Fänstjärnsskogen and Skavåsen. From there you walk through the forest area between the parking lot and Långåsberget's reserve (straightest way compass direction 220 of 360 degrees). The forest road leading to the reserve is closed.
Regler
In the reserve it is forbidden to:
- collect invertebrates, such as beetles and land snails
- collecting mosses, lichens and wood fungi
- damaging or removing trees and shrubs, including dead wood such as lying and standing dry trees and dry branches.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is prohibited to:
- make organized use of the area for commercial purposes, and for schools and institutions to regularly use the area for scientific or other studies.
