Beskrivelse

Crown coral fungus and creeping lady’s-tresses, stone kilns and charcoal-burning sites - Gribby is home to fascinating wildlife and intriguing cultural heritage remains!

The forest is old and was probably grazed in earlier times. Spruce grows here, along with aspen, Scots pine, birch, goat willow and maple. The lime-rich soil provides favourable conditions for unusual fungi and plants, several of which are red-listed.

Search on fallen aspens for the crown coral fungus. Among the mosses on the forest floor, you may spot the delicate woodland orchid creeping lady’s-tresses. And keep your ears open for the call of the black woodpecker.

The nature reserve contains two stone kilns that once belonged to charcoal burners’ huts. By the stone kiln in the northern part of the reserve, you can see the remains of an old charcoal-burning site, where a charcoal kiln once stood. Who do you think worked here long ago? What do you imagine their days were like? Did they listen to the call of the black woodpecker? What was it like to sleep in the hut?

Apart from information signs, there are no visitor facilities in the reserve. Instead, you are free to explore the area at your own pace.
