Welcome to Älghult’s hembygdsgård!

A hembygdsgård is a place where locals together have collected buildings to make sure they are preserved for the next generations. There is over a thousand hembygdsgårdar in Sweden but they’re all different! That’s because the locals want to preserve buildings and traditions that are unique for their region.

Älhult’s hembygdsgård is located quite central in Älghult. The park is a bigger area and includes 11 buildings of different types. There is also a small museum with exhibitions on glassmaking, forest management, hunting and fishing, different form of crafts, and householding.

The locals that are responsible for the park does this to make sure traditions and buildings are being preserved, but also because they want to contribute to a strong community where everyone is welcome. If you also want to be a part of the community can you join them on a working evening and learn more about Älghult and preserving buildings!

During the summer is there also Melodikryss-meetings with waffles were everyone are happy to join.
