Beskrivelse
This is a legendary site near Agunnaryd in Ljungby, Småland, located in a varied landscape close to Lake Agunnaryd and accessible by smaller roads and paths.
According to the legend, a lady named Agunda once lived in a fortress here. She was Christian and had a church built in the area. At the same time, she was threatened by pagan attackers who wanted to destroy what she had created.
When the threat was at its greatest, a miracle occurred. The story says that she was protected and the attackers failed. The legend has remained as a story of faith, protection and conflict between belief systems.
The story is closely connected to the place itself, where landscape and historical environment reinforce its meaning.
Visiting this place is part of a journey through the Land of Legends in Småland (Ljungby, Alvesta and Älmhult). Here, stories about supernatural beings exist alongside memories of real people and their lives.
The journey takes visitors through scenic nature and forgotten environments, offering insights into how people once lived and understood the world. Stories are tied to real places and passed down through generations.
The area is internationally recognised through UNESCO.
The Museum of Legends in Ljungby gathers these stories and presents them through exhibitions and storytelling.
The site is reached via paths and suited for nature visits.
