STF Gysinge Wärdshus & Hotell

Gysinge Wärdshus & Hotell is a unique gem on the banks of the lower Dalälven River in Gästrikland. This historic property was once part of the largest ironworks in Gästrikland. The hotel rooms are housed in beautifully preserved workers’ lodgings that have been carefully renovated using traditional building conservation methods and with great respect for their heritage. Each room is unique, but all retain their genuine character and historic charm.

In the restaurant, meals are prepared from scratch with a focus on locally produced and organic ingredients.

Just a stone’s throw from the hotel lies Färnebofjärden National Park, known for its excellent paddling opportunities, scenic hiking trails and rich natural surroundings. At the visitor centre, Naturum, you can learn more about the park’s unique wildlife and landscapes.

In Gysinge, you are surrounded by living cultural heritage. The first coaching inn and posting station opened here as early as 1754. Today, the village is a well-known centre for traditional building conservation. In the area around Gysinge Wärdshus, you can attend courses, shop for building conservation materials, visit interior design stores, explore a fire engine museum, browse flea markets and much more. Gysinge Wärdshus worked closely with Gysinge Building Conservation throughout its restoration process.

Don’t miss the wood-fired sauna overlooking the river. It can be booked on site for an additional fee.
