Beskrivelse

The Tullgarn nature reserve is a diverse landscape rich in cultural history and fantastic nature. Here you'll find deciduous trees, calcareous coniferous forests, beach meadows and pastures. At the Tullgarn Palace, built in the 1720s, there is an inn and a café where you can sit and take in the beauty of the area.

To the west is Skräddartorpskärret, a lovely hay meadow with high biodiversity. Orchids are plentiful here, and during the summer, you can experience the blossoms of thousands of bird's-eye primrose and musk orchids.

Tullgarn is a very popular place for birdwatching. At Häggnäsviken, near the Palace, there is a wheelchair-accessible bird observation tower where you can see white-tailed eagles, ospreys and various species of waders. There are some excellent swimming spots at Lake Sörsjön. The Sörmlandsleden trail takes you through the nature reserve.

** By car: ** Take the E4 south from Stockholm and take the exit towards Trosa and Vagnhärad. From there, follow the signs toward Tullgarn Palace ("Tullgarns slott" in Swedish). Parking is available in several places, including at the palace and at Näset. You can get to Näset via the road at the north end of the tree-lined avenue.

In order to protect the Tullgarn nature reserve, please respect the following rules.

Within the reserve, it is forbidden to:

destroy or damage permanent natural structures or surfaces by drilling, cutting, blasting, carving, painting or similar,
operate motorised vehicles outside of designated roads,
disturb wildlife (e.g. by climbing nesting trees, being in close proximity to burrows, trapping or killing mammals, birds, reptiles or amphibians),
bring dogs, cats or other pets that are not on a leash,
make a fire anywhere outside of designated sites,
park a motorhome or caravan,
ride horses outside of designated roads and areas,
set up marked trails or orienteering controls,
moor or anchor a boat for more than two consecutive nights in the same place.

Within the inner zone (the original nature reserve), camping is also prohibited. Within the outer zone (the original nature conservation area), it is also forbidden to put up a sign, message board, poster or similar.
