Stengärdet

On the western side of Källtorpssjön is old farmland that belonged to Nacka Bruk. The rocky terrain may have given the place the name Stengärdet. The field is surrounded by an impressive stone wall. It is a full 600 meters long and has had the task of keeping the cattle grazing in the forest away from the farmland. Legend has it that it was built by Russian prisoners of war in the 18th century. Whatever the case, it is known that at that time, regulations were introduced to replace wooden fences with stone walls to save the forest. The forest was needed to provide wood and charcoal for the mills.

Today, football golf is played at Stengärdet.
