Sättra Gårds naturreservat

Sättra Gård Nature Reserve was established in 1970 and is approximately 213 hectares in size, of which approximately 157 hectares is land. It is the county administrative board that has decided to establish the reserve. The reserve is managed by Upplands Väsby municipality. The nature reserve covers a cultural landscape around Sättra Gård by Lake Mälaren. The landscape consists of typical nature for Upplands Väsby with open arable land, deciduous and coniferous forest areas. There is a bathing area, a fireplace and good opportunities for hiking and cycling.

Nature

The varied nature is reflected in the diversity of bird life. There are both barn owls and sparrow owls. The latter thrive in the vast coniferous forests. The yellow sparrow has its territory in the deciduous margins with sloe, rosehip bushes, rowan and other deciduous trees. In the transition between forest and field, the yellowhammer finds a valuable refuge.

Outdoor life

Small gravel paths for walking and cycling wind through the reserve. There is space for activities such as riding stables, a swimming area and a promenade with prepared barbecue areas. If you continue the Upplandsleden trail north, you will come to Runsa, where there is an ancient castle.

Cultural environment

Sättra Gård is a piece of medieval history that was first mentioned in 1297. Since 1970, Sättra Gård has been a nature reserve set aside mainly for outdoor recreation.
