Rundslinga Mensättra våtmark

You are welcome to enter the wetland on footbridges and bridges to look for birds, insects and amphibians. The ditches are home to cabbage, rushes, reeds and various grasses. They are buzzing with insects such as dragonflies, damselflies and mayfly nymphs, which make toads, frogs and salamanders thrive. The deposits of dead wood are home to even more insects.

Mensättra wetland is located in Boo, just east of Boovägen and south of Värmdövägen, and is one of Nacka's most central wetlands. Despite the proximity to buildings and roads, there is a magical atmosphere about the place.

When there is a lot of water, the ground's bearing capacity is low. You would be wise to stay on the bridges and footbridges that have been built to make the wetland accessible to visitors.

Mensättra wetland - a nature park with an important mission

The wetland strengthens the biodiversity of the area, helps to clean stormwater and reduces eutrophication.

Previously, the area was drained and species-poor as the water flowing through the area went directly to Lake Sågsjön. By clearing the vegetation and creating dams that slow down the flow of water, we have changed the environment so that more animals and plants find their way here. The nutrients in the water are now captured by the plants in the wetland, which also contributes to a reduced risk of eutrophication in Sågsjön. Feel free to stop at any of the bridges to take a closer look at how the dams are constructed!

A massive willow thicket as a backdrop to Värmdövägen has been saved to give birds such as blue tits and blackcaps plenty of space to build their nests. Willow and alder also contribute pollen to insects, while capturing nitrogen from the air.
