Parkudden-Lövsta naturreservat

Parkudden-Lövsta is a pastoral manor landscape right next to Lake Mälaren. When you arrive at Parkudden-Lövsta, it is probably the large oaks that first catch your eye. In the summer you will meet the cows that keep the landscape open with their grazing.

The oaks in the area thrive in the sunlit environment. Here they get a chance to grow old and large and create an environment for many species. Many of the oaks grow several rare lichens and mosses. If you go to the rocky outcrops in the area, you can find a partially calcareous flora with species such as tulkört, goat's rue and oxberry. The rocky ground is also home to several large junipers. You can also find several cultivated species that are typical of manor house landscapes, such as hornbeam, barberry and beech. Often the buzzard sits on an oak branch or you hear the drumming of woodpeckers.

From the reserve's parking lot, a dirt road leads you into the reserve. On the other side of the asphalt road, the mountain and the oak grove "Bålaren" rise up quite steeply. The spring flora on the mountain Bålaren is well worth a visit. Here you can also take the opportunity to see the crowns of the large oaks from above. To enter the pastures, you pass stair-like fence crossings. If you follow the path around Parkudden, you will find a marked path up to a stone sofa with beautiful views. If you follow the gravel road towards the boat club, you pass a private plot that houses one of Södertälje's largest oaks.

The reserve was established in 1992, is 19.8 hectares in size and is managed by Södertälje municipality. Each nature reserve has specific regulations for the public. Please read these before visiting the area online or on the information boards on site.
