Ekbackens lövskogslund

Larsberg is home to Lidingö's finest oak and hazel grove. In spring, the grove is bright and open with a beautiful spring flora with elements of unusual species such as desm bud and spring pea. The grove is probably the only place on Lidingö where you can see water lily - a pink plant that completely lacks chlorophyll. It lives as a parasite, usually on hazel roots, and blooms in April-May with flowers in pink and white. When the leaves burst, the greenery in the grove is delicate, but in early summer the greenery becomes denser and the hazel bouquets form a space-creating canopy in the grove. During the summer, the grove is a darker, more cozy environment that can feel a bit magical and mysterious. The old oaks in the grove are home to unusual species that are associated with old oaks, such as the oxtongue fungus and oak tick. The old oaks are also good nesting sites for birds. In some years you can hear the barn owl and see it in one of the grove's old oaks. The grove has a nature trail with six signposted information points describing the rich flora and fauna of the grove. The trail is a collaboration between the nature conservation association in Lidingö and Lidingö city and with the support of the local nature conservation initiative LONA.
