Nämdö

Nämdö has a beautiful cultural landscape that is kept open thanks to active farming. Nämdö's interior is best discovered by bike or on foot, gravel roads and walking paths are fine and there are no cars on the island. From the top of Nämdö böte, the island's highest mountain, there is a lookout tower where you get a fantastic view of the archipelago. It is possible to swim in several places.

The western side of Nämdö is forested and mountainous and faces Nämdöfjärden, while the south-eastern part of the island is more low-lying and bright, with villages and an old agricultural landscape dating back to the 1600s. In Nämdö's forests you can meet moose and deer and in the open fields there are plenty of fallow deer that have spread from a plantation on Rågskär in the early 60s. The island has several villages worth a visit, in Sand you will find the Archipelago Museum and the homestead, in Östanvik there is a farm that receives visitors and has a farm shop and in Solvik there is the island's grocery store.
