"In the beginning God created heaven and earth. The earth was desolate and empty, the deep was covered with darkness, and a divine wind swept over the waters." Genesis 1:1-2

Already as an introduction to the creation story, water is present and gives us a poetic picture of the beginning of everything. A divine wind swept over the water. Water is the prerequisite for all life. This is why water is the symbol of life in the Bible and the Christian faith. In Christian baptism, water is used as a sign of being born into a new life with Christ.

The promise of baptism is always valid: "I am with you always, to the end of the age". Matt. 28:20
