Ängsjö

Ängsjö outdoor area is the perfect place for a day out. There are large, generous lawns for picnics, games and ball games. Here you can find space for both activity and relaxation in beautiful nature along Lake Mälaren.

Open-air farm and exercise center

As early as 1958, the municipality bought Ängsjö farm to use as an open-air farm. The white main building probably dates from the end of the 19th century, but has acquired its current appearance in connection with a later renovation. From 2020, Ängsjö's new exercise center with café, toilets, showers and sauna will be located here.

Barbecue, swim, run and play

The area has barbecue areas, child-friendly swimming areas, an easily accessible promenade and jetties. Children can follow an adventure trail and discover a tepee village with both a fort and a cable car. There are also plenty of lawns to run around on.

During the summer you can rent canoes and rowing boats. There are also cabins for rent. Ängsjö dog bath is signposted and is located by the beach near the parking lot south of the beach.

The larger bathing area is accessible with a bathing ramp and railing into the water. The steamboat pier, the paved promenade and a couple of the cottages are also accessible. There is parking for the disabled.

If the ice settles on Lake Mälaren, a 2.5 kilometer long circular track for skating is plowed with a connection to the longer Vikingarännet. From the top cabin at the top of the slope you have a nice view of Lake Mälaren.

Among conifers on the path

At Ängsjö there are various paths and trails to choose from. All paths and trails are marked with different colors so that you can easily and safely make your way through the forest. There are also exercise trails that are illuminated in the evenings. The electric light trails are between 2.3 and 4.7 kilometers long. There is an outdoor gym adjacent to the trail center. The municipality tracks for cross-country skiing in winter.

Oaks and bats

Around Ängsjö there are large oaks and smaller hazel bushes. Bats can rest in the oaks during the day. There are several exciting species here, such as the common pipistrelle, little pipistrelle and northern bat. For those who want to see bats, the chances are greatest down by the water where they hunt insects. Go there on a summer evening when it is dusk.
