Tornstugan

The tower house at Näsnaren bird lake northwest of Katrineholm is considered one of the most prominent bird towers in the country. Tornstugan consists of a building of just over 80 square meters with a seven meter high observation tower.

Accessibility:

The road to Tornstugan runs through a wide path in the forest from the parking lot at the avenue to Katrineholm's farm. The path, about 600 meters through Tornskogen, is smooth and wide. Next to the new birdwatching tower is a large raised wooden deck that disabled people can easily reach to look out over the lake.

Opening hours:

The tower is kept open by Katrineholm municipality and members of the Katrineholm and Vingåker Ornithological Society and the Katrineholm Nature Conservation Society. At other times, a staircase on the outside of the tower gives access to a balcony with a clear view of the lake. We also organize open houses in Tornstugan a few times a year. Tornstugan can be booked by school classes, preschools, leisure activities, workplaces, associations and groups. Tornstugan has a nature exhibition and materials for outdoor education. Facts about Tornstugan:

Tornstugan was designed by architect Björn-Olof Köllner and has been open and accessible since 2009 via Katrineholm and Vingåkers Ornithological Association (KVO) and the Nature Conservation Association in Katrineholm.

In 2019, the municipality of Katrineholm, with the help of state LONA grants, built a nature exhibition about the natural values found at the site. The exhibition was inaugurated in June 2019.
