Tjugesta skans

There are the remains of a stone rampart built using the cold-wall technique, i.e. stones were laid in layers without mortar. The ancient castle was a defense facility and refuge in times of turmoil. It was probably built in the Late Iron Age around 500 BC. The hill with the ancient castle is surrounded by a hazel grove with a beautiful and rich spring flora of white-blue anemones, swallow-wort and several species of violets. Up on the crest, tulkört can be found. After hiking up to the crest, it can be nice to relax on the shore of Lake Silingen.
