Beskrivelse
Torup's beech forest is part of Malmö's recreational area. Here you can hike, cycle, ride, exercise, barbecue and sleep in shelters. There are several exercise trails (2-10 km), walking and theme trails of varying lengths, as well as bridle paths and cycle paths. Adjacent to the nature reserve is Torup Castle, which is partly open for guided tours for the public, as well as Torup village with Friluftsgården and the meeting place Stallarna.
Historical excursion destination
Torup has been one of Malmö's most popular excursion destinations for almost 200 years. A restaurant, dance floor and a branch line to the area from the railway between Malmö and Genarp contributed to its popularity in the first half of the 20th century. Traces of the festival site and the embankment can still be seen. In 1970, the City of Malmö bought the area, the Torup estate, to ensure access to this outdoor and recreational area.
Nature, plants and animals
The natural values in the area are primarily linked to the broadleaf forest with its old trees and rich presence of dead and dying wood. The beech forest has a very high level of biodiversity with a particularly high number of wood-boring insects and has been assessed as one of the most species-rich areas in Skåne in terms of wood-boring insects. The area is also a species-rich and important area for bats and soil fungi.
Outdoor life
Adjacent to the nature reserve is Torup Castle, which is partly open for guided tours for the public, as well as Torup village with Friluftsgården, the meeting place Stallarna with the event venue Stenladan and Expo Torup, which is an educational exhibition about the area. Nearby are also the State Museum and Bokskogens golf club with PGA. The open-air farm, which is run by the City of Malmö, houses a café, nature exhibition and exercise facility. Nature-related activities are organized here and several exercise trails (2-10 km), walking and theme trails of varying lengths, as well as bridle paths and cycle paths start from here. Within and directly adjacent to the nature reserve there are two shelters. Fires and barbecues are only allowed in designated areas and with wood/charcoal brought or provided. Remember to take your rubbish home. Parkvägen's or Kejsarvägen's parking lots are good starting points for hiking in the nature reserve.

**Within the area, special rules and restrictions apply to the right of public access.
For example, it is forbidden to:
- keeping dogs off-leash
- make fires outside designated areas
- riding or cycling outside designated paths and roads
- camping for longer than two days
- collect mosses, lichens, wood fungi and bugs
It is important to note that this is only a selection of the rules.
Full regulations for visitors
In addition to regulations and prohibitions in other laws and regulations, it is forbidden to:
- camping, putting up windbreaks or similar devices for longer than two days
- ride a bicycle other than on public or private roads or bicycle paths designated by the recreation manager,
- ride a horse other than on riding trails designated by the recreation manager,
- bring dogs that are not kept on a physical leash
- make a fire other than with firewood, charcoal or a storm kitchen that you have brought with you or that has been designated, in a place designated by the recreation manager,
- drive and park motorized vehicles or trailers other than on roads and parking areas designated for the purpose,
- damage living or dead standing or lying trees and bushes
- digging, drilling, painting or otherwise damaging soil, stone, stone walls, natural objects or cultural relics
- collect mosses, lichens or wood-living fungi with the exception of single specimens, provided that the findings are registered in the Species Portal, or equivalent national database for endangered species, and that the collection does not violate the protection provisions.
Furthermore, it is prohibited without the permission of the county administrative board:
10. capture insects, spiders, snails or other invertebrates other than by scooping, hand picking or other selective method with subsequent release within the nature reserve. The requirement for re-release does not apply to single specimens of each species, provided that the findings are registered in the Species Portal, or equivalent national database for endangered species, and that the collection does not violate the conservation regulations.
