Handlinger

Beskrivelse

Grollegrund stretches from the shallow sandy bottoms of the beach to soft bottoms at a depth of 45 meters. The reserve is believed to be home to the richest algae flora in Öresund, including shells, crustaceans, stinging nettles, sponges and echinoderms. This is also the realm of the red shark. Grollegrund is a municipal nature reserve.

From shore to deep sea

Grollegrund nature reserve stretches from the shallow sandy bottoms of the beach to soft bottoms at a depth of 45 meters. Between these two extremes are a variety of habitats that create the conditions for the teeming wildlife found here. Grollegrund is believed to be home to the most species-rich algae flora in Öresund, and the algae include hundreds of different species of bristle worms, snails, crustaceans, stinging nettles, sponges and echinoderms.

Home to cod and dogfish

There are more than 75 different species of fish in the Sound, many of which are also found in Grollegrund. The most common are herring, cod, flounder and dab. A rarer and more sensitive species that reproduces in the area is the small-spotted red shark. The red shark grows up to one meter long and lives on vegetation-rich bottoms at depths of 30 to 80 meters.

Birds that are often seen in the reserve include eiders and various gulls.
