Beskrivelse
Stora Rängen is one of Linköping's largest lakes and a popular fishing area. Places like Vackrevik, Sjöpärlan, Skarnöhorn, Laxviken and Trätholmen attract visitors with rods in hand. Many people fish from boats to make it easier to get to one of the lake's many islands, shallows, bays and straits, but it is also possible to find good fishing spots from land. In the 1960s there were trout in the lake, known as Rängenlax, but nowadays fishermen have to make do with species such as perch, pike, zander and burbot.
The lake is part of the Ärlången-Rengensjöarnas fisheries management area. You can buy a fishing license at Hultins sportfiske in Linköping and in the grocery stores in Sturefors, Bestorp, Grebo and Brokind. The card entitles you to fish in Stora and Lilla Rängen, Ärlången and in the Kinda canal between the lakes.

The lake is large and offers many good fishing spots. There are a lot of roads down to the water, most of them private and quite small. Keep in mind that many of the roads go to houses, respect prohibition signs and park sensibly. If you come with a boat on a trailer, you can use the ramp at Bestorp's boat club for a fee. There is also a ramp at Hovetorp marina in Kinda canal.
