Smedstad dammar

On the outskirts of the city is a small water park with winding canals and ponds. Here you can explore along easy-to-walk paths and small bridges that lead you through the area. There is a large picnic area, but also a dry toilet and several park benches and smaller picnic areas.

At the large picnic area, there is a covered fire pit, so you can make a fire and grill your food. Firewood is usually available on site, but if you want to be absolutely sure of being able to make a fire, it is recommended that you bring your own firewood or charcoal.

The ponds have been built to purify the water in Smedstadbäcken and even out the flow of water in the stream. There is a rich plant and animal life here, including otters and the unusual fringed bat. In winter, this is a good place to see common terns. Large parts of the meadows around the ponds are managed as hay meadows. The abundance of flowers means that many butterflies and wild bees fly in the area. It is not permitted to pick flowers at the ponds or the rest of the nature reserve.

The circular trail, the toilet and the large picnic area are accessible. This means that they are possible to visit with a wheelchair or pram, for example. The loop is just over 600 meters long.
