Rösten

The old man with the voice, located next to the highway south of Grebo, is a fertility symbol. Its age is not certain, but it could be as old as the 5th century BC. The bottom stone is painted red and on it is a smaller one painted white. At the top is the head painted black. Next to the stone is a roundel of stones. Rösten is a unique ancient monument in Sweden as it is the country's only phallic symbol and is the subject of many legends. The farm at Rösten probably dates from the 18th century. According to a legend, the stones must be repainted at the same time as the houses, otherwise the farm will burn down. The barn burned down in 1920. Was it because of Röstensgubben?
