Beskrivelse
The stage from Örberga takes you to the destination for the pilgrim, the abbey church in Vadstena. The trail crosses the Östgöta plain on a narrow,
low-traffic asphalt road that winds its way between cornfields and open fields. Along your hike you will pass Järnevid outdoor swimming pool and several sights such as Örberga church from the 12th century, Örberga stone museum and the mighty oval cathedral ring in Nässja. The last stretch you have Vadstena in front of you in the eye, the goal is approaching. Along the way towards Vadstena, the trail is lined with signs with quotes from St. Birgitta, which evoke thoughts about life here and now.
In a building right next to Örberga church there is drinking water and WC. The cellars at Örberga church and Nässja church offer simple pilgrim accommodation.
In Vadstena, accommodation awaits,
restaurants, cafés and grocery stores. At the Pilgrim Center you can rest up
after the walk in a welcoming environment where pilgrims from all over the world
meet each other. There is a café, shop and library. In the Sancta Birgitta Monastery Museum you can learn
more about the life and legacy of Saint Bridget.
This stage shares a route with the St. Birgitta Ways pilgrimage trail - a collective name for all the pilgrimage trails that lead to Vadstena and connect pilgrimage destinations in the Nordic region and Europe. The trail is named after St. Bridget, the patron saint of Europe with her message of peace and simplicity. For more information see website.
