Motala - Vadstena, Östgötaleden

This part of the Östgötaleden trail shares its route with the St. Birgitta Ways pilgrimage trail. The trail follows mostly gravel and asphalt roads but also some nature trails. During the tour you will experience varied nature.

The trail passes the edge of Långvråns nature reserve with its deciduous forest. Watch out for traffic on the road past Hagebyhöga Church. From here, according to legend, the pilgrims walked barefoot out of reverence to the pilgrimage destination Vadstena. In Hagebyhöga nature reserve, the trail goes through a limestone marsh rich in orchids, then via Vadstena Camping and the footpath into Vadstena.
