Falerum

The sound of flowing water guides you through Falerum's old industrial areas. The area was once home to a string of small-scale industrial operations powered by the Storån river's water power. Many buildings from this time remain along the river, but today they are used for other purposes than when the water wheels were turning.

In the 18th century, there were two mills and a saw in the lower industrial area of Falerum. During the 19th century, Augustenburg's dye works with a cotton mill and Cederholm's mill and paper mill were added.

In the early 1900s, two power stations were built. The dye works was replaced by the Falerum brickworks, which came to share its clay mill with Falerum's clay coal factory. There was also a flocking mill, a bone stamp and a smithy.
