Ekvandring i Åtvidabergs tätort

Almost all municipalities emphasize their nature, but we can stand by what we say. Parts of Åtvidaberg's urban area have such high natural values that they are included in Natura 2000, a network of the EU's most valuable natural areas. The natural values are primarily linked to the town's large oaks. Here, for example, there are unusual wood fungi and insects that show what valuable natural environments we have in the middle of the settlement.

The oak environments leave their mark on Åtvidaberg. This is not only positive for biodiversity, but also as a healthy living environment. Studies have shown links between local nature and health, which should very much apply to the urban oak environments, which are thus in many ways an asset to be proud of.

To get an overview of what the urban environment in Åtvidaberg has to offer, there is an oak walk with five stops with associated information signs that starts from the back of the Sports Hall at Grevgatan and ends at the homestead (see the cartoon map in the slideshow above).
