Tunntappen

Three kilometers west of Tryggeboda, the trail passes the small, strange lake Tunntappen. The lake has a subterranean outlet through the coarse blocky moraine and a normal stream outlet. At high flows, the underground outlet is not enough to drain the lake, so the water also flows through the visible stream channel. But at low flows, the underground outlet can almost completely empty the lake. This is what gave rise to the lake's name, as it is popularly said to be emptied, like taking the spigot out of a barrel.
