Beskrivelse
Garphyttan National Park was established in 1909 and is one of Sweden's oldest national parks. The land consists mainly of the former property of Östra gården, one of four mountain farms in Svenshyttan. The core environment of the national park consists of the old farm site and the remaining open farmland, which is now managed with annual mowing. It is home to a variety of plants and animals typical of the meadows of the old agricultural landscape. The surrounding coniferous forest is today allowed to develop freely into natural forest, where both old and dead trees are left, an environment where many rare plants and animals thrive.

Rutevejledning
The national park is located 5 km southwest of Garphyttan village. Road signs are available from Lekhyttan, Lanna and Garphyttan. The Bergslagsleden hiking trail, stage 11 between Suttarboda and Leken, passes through the northwestern part of the park.
Regler
In Garphyttan National Park you get:
- pick berries and edible mushrooms for your own use
- make fires only in designated places with wood you bring or provide
- camp only at designated campsites
- do not walk in the meadows other than on designated paths between May 5 and August 10
- bring your dog if it is on a leash
- drive a motor vehicle or park only on designated roads and parking lots
- ride and cycle only on roads or designated parking areas
- do not** damage or take living or dead plants, mosses, lichens, woody fungi, trees and shrubs
- do not** take, damage, paint, carve, mark, block or stone
- do not** take off or land by aircraft
Be aware of steep drops at viewpoints. Be aware of the risk of slipping along the trails due to rain, snow and ice.
