17. Midsommarberget

In central Laxå there is an unexpected and cherished natural pearl. A pine forest of impressive age and rough armoured bark as well as gnarled and dogged trees. Hike around on the paths at the same time as you breathe in the sweet smell of sun-warmed pine, and keep an eye open for red ring rot on the pine trunks! This fungus only grows on pines that are more than 100-150 year’s old, and here there are trees that are considerably older than that.

Clear but unmarked paths. Some elevated parts, but mostly easy walking.

Recommendations

Bring binoculars, to see the red ring rot which often grows high up the stem.
