Konstverk "Den samiska stjärnhimlen"

In 2018, artists Britta Marakatt-Labba, Anders Sunna and Monica L Edmondson were given a joint assignment. They were to create a pattern for parts of the facade of Kunskapshuset in Gällivare. They based their work on the sky and the Sami starry sky – that is, a world where the stars have created stories and images since the beginning of time.

In their design work, they used illustrations from books by authors Johan Turi and Bo Lundmark as well as freely interpreted constellations. At the far end towards Lasarettsgatan, there is a light installation with constellations and a stylized Sami hut.
