Road description
Preferably start by Tingsryd Square. On the lawn by Torggatan/Dackegatan you find the monument "Karatorpsdubben", made by Ingemar Svensson and Björn Gidstam, a memory of quarrying in Småland. Follow Dackegatan/Kyrkogatan/Bäckgatan down to the bicycle path and turn right. The beautiful Å-park is located by the river Bräkneån. On the right side, right before the entrance of the park, was Tingsryd Bryggeri, the local brewery. It was moved from Korrö at the end of the 19th century and continued its business for about 90 more years. The Tingsryd beer was both popular and appreciated. Today Trensum, a food company is located on the spot. Follow the bicycle path on the old railway embankment through the park towards Växjö for about 7 km. At the third junction, turn right towards Möckleryd. Shortly before the village there is a observation point on the right side. After about 700 m turn right again. Continue your way through the beautiful nature of Småland, with its forests, lakes and meadows. Pass the villages Söftestorp, Brevik, Bagganäs and back towards Tingsryd. Approx. 2.5 km after you have passed the sign "Bagganäs" turn right onto a gravel road. At the crossing is a small barn and a house on the right. You will find a nice picnic spot by the southern end of lake Ygden, right before the road between Linneryd and Tingsryd. Follow the road for some hundred meters and turn right at the first entrance on the right side, Linnerydsvägen. You will pass by Wasaskolan and Academy for Music and Business. Turn right to Tingsgatan and then Kyrkogatan, where you can see Tingsås kyrka, the church of Tingsryd, built in 1853. Follow Dackegatan to get back to the market square. The tour is on asphalt roads, gravel roads and car-free bicycle paths.
