Römningen runt

A signed cycle trail runs all the way around Römningen lake. People have lived in this landscape for a very long time, so there are many interesting stories attached to the area. Along the trail there are info boards that will tell you some of these anecdotes and more about local nature and history.

Route description: Those with energy to spare can join from the Pjätterydsrundan trail (7.5 km), but otherwise you can park your car in Göteryd to cycle or walk in this historically rich landscape. In Göteryd church village, you can visit the parish church, the craft school and the rural heritage museum. In the village of Ekenäs you’ll find the remains of an old mill pond with an eel-trap. In the 16th century, the Tiakölna estate was owned by the Lilliesparre family. Here the trail follows the shoreline and there are places where you can take a dip in Römningen lake. In Ramnäs you can take an 800 m detour from the cycle trail to easily reach Ramnäs bathing place. South of Ramnäs is a preserved cist from the late Stone Age. There are many of these neolithic graves dotted around the forests and meadows surrounding the lake, but they can be a little harder to find.
