Beskrivelse

The Horsnäsamossen Nature Reserve is a wetland area located in a long valley with other marshes and lakes. The reserve covers nearly 800 hectares and consists primarily of bogs and marshes.

The marsh is crossed by the road between Vislanda and Ljungby. To the north of the road lies Tranebrokanalen (Tranebro Canal). A walk along the canal takes you out onto the marsh to experience its fantastic vistas.

Bogs, Marshes, Forest, and Land Horsnäsamossen is a diverse and well-preserved bog. It features unusually large bog ridges for the region. The completely treeless bogs and surrounding mosses create vast, open landscapes. Valuable forests, mainly consisting of swamp forests with pine trees, surround the open bog areas. Within the reserve, several springs and streams form smaller swamp forest patches. While pine and spruce dominate, there are also some deciduous trees.

Rich Birdlife The marsh hosts a rich birdlife, including sightings of redshank, crane, dunlin, lapwing, wood sandpiper, and other marsh birds. In the reserve, you can also spot capercaillie and black grouse. The forest around the marsh is abundant in dead wood, which is used by various woodpeckers.
