Beskrivelse
This nature reserve protects two areas of lush deciduous forest for the future. The forest is home to a diversity of birds, plants, lichens, mosses and fungi. In the past, the land was farmed by the people from the 18th-century farm Vinterbo. Here they let their animals go to summer grazing, cut hay and cultivated.
Traces of a farm
Exactly when Vinterbo got its current location at the reserve parking lot is uncertain. What we do know is that the farm was located further west in the early 18th century. At the old farm location, which is marked on the map opposite, there are various kinds of remains left. There are the remains of a cellar, garden plants such as lilacs and fruit trees, stone walls and cairns.
Meadows in the east...
The eastern sub-area consists of the old Vinterbo meadows. The meadows were used for cultivation, gardening and haymaking. Leafy twigs were cut from ash and other deciduous trees to supplement the animals' winter feed. When the land ceased to be farmed in the 20th century, it began to grow again and today lush broadleaf forest grows on the former pastures. Some old fields are still open and on some ash trees you can still see the traces of the pollarding (leaf harvest).
...and outlying areas in the west
The western part of the area used to serve as outfields. Farmers used to let their animals graze on the outfield and collect firewood and timber here. Nowadays, an unusually large beech forest grows in the area. Several rare fungi, mosses and lichens have been found on the beech trees.

Rutevejledning
The reserve is located 5 km northwest of Halltorp village. At Germundslycke you turn off towards Prästlycke and Yggesbo. After the village of Lyckeström, follow signs for Vinterbo.The reserve can only be reached on foot the last bit from the parking lot, a distance of about 850 m to the first sub-area, along a farm road. Respect the farm environment at the parking lot, it is private.
Regler
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Drive a motorized vehicle.
- Camp in the same place for more than 24 hours.
- Deliberately disturb wildlife.
- Bring a dog or other animal that is not on a leash.
- Making a fire.
- Picking or damaging mosses, lichens or wood fungi.
- Digging or pulling up vascular plants.
- Damage or remove trees, stumps, bark, branches, shrubs or brush that are growing or dead.
Full regulations
C. Regulations for the public according to Chapter 7, Section 30 of the Environmental Code on the right to travel and stay in the reserve and on order in general within the reserve.
It is forbidden to enter the reserve:
- drive motor vehicles.
- Camping for more than one day in the same place.
- disturb wildlife.
- Bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet.
- Making a fire.
- picking or damaging wood fungi, mosses or lichens
- digging or pulling up vascular plants
- Damage or remove growing or dead trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or brush.
The regulations under C do not apply to owners or holders of special rights to property or holders of other rights.
