Stora Åkebosjön

Stora Åkebosjön is located about 6 km west of Hultsfred and you can find it if you drive from road 34 through Hammarsebo towards Stora Hammarsjön. The lake is patchy with many bays and straits and it is nutrient-poor. Stora Åkebosjön is part of Stora Hammarsjöns FVO and is mostly surrounded by coniferous forest and the shores grow pine and birch.

Some of the shores are rocky with outcrops and in some places around the lake there are marshes and bogs. The aquatic vegetation of Lake Stora Åkebosjön consists of sedges, water lilies, pike perch and reeds. In the southern part of the lake is Björnnäset. The area became a nature reserve in 1997. In the northern part of the lake there is an information board where you can turn in and park near the lake. There is also a windbreak and a boat jetty. Stora Åkebosjön is an important bird lake with its variety.
