Beskrivelse
This nature reserve is a mosaic of forests, bogs and marshes. Here you will walk through nature where the traces of human intervention will soon be a thing of the past. Enjoy the peace and quiet among century-old pine trees and fragrant spruce, in the company of capercaillie, tits and woodpeckers!
Early nature conservation
This area was protected as early as 1946, before which it was a 'peasant forest'. The local farmers grazed their animals here, and from here they took firewood and timber for household needs. Back then, the forest was sparser than today. You can still see the occasional stump with an axe cut among the tree trunks.
Varied nature
Stensryd's nature is a mixture of rocky pine forest, open poor marshes and pine bogs. There are trees of all ages, the oldest being up to 170 years old. Because the forest is self-sustaining, the trees die of old age, unless rot and storms contribute to their premature death. Unlike in a normal forest, no machines come here to clear away windfalls and dead wood. This benefits the plants and animals that depend on old and dead trees for their survival.
The spectacle of nature
Grouse leks are one of the most spectacular things you can see in a Swedish forest. The roosters arrive at the playground the evening before the fight. During the game, they have to be as intimidating as possible for each other, while impressing the hens!

Rutevejledning
The parking lot to the reserve can be reached via a small forest road that starts from Kallersbovägen. Parking facilities for single cars are available adjacent to the turnaround at the end of the forest road.
Regler
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Drive a motorized vehicle.
- ride a horse
- camp.
- Make a fire.
- Climbing trees with nests.
- Being closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow.
- Hunting, killing, capturing or harming wild mammals, amphibians, reptiles or birds.
- remove or damage eggs or nests
- Deliberately disturbing wildlife.
- Damage or remove trees, stumps, bark, branches, shrubs or brush that are growing or dead.
- Digging, pulling up or picking plants or plant parts. You may pick berries and edible mushrooms.
- Bring a dog or other animal that is not on a leash.
- Put up a board, sign, poster or similar device or make inscriptions.
- Damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations.
- Damage fixed ancient monuments (such as stone walls, cairns, etc.).
- Use the area for competitions or exercises.
After consultation with the County Administrative Board, you may:
- Conduct surveys or research.
Full regulations
C. Regulations under Section 10 of the Nature Conservation Act on what the public must observe within the reserve.
In addition to prohibitions and regulations in other legislation, it is prohibited to
- drive a motorized vehicle,
- riding a horse
- camping
- make fires
- disturbing wildlife by climbing trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 m to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow
- hunt, kill, capture or injure wild mammals, amphibians, reptiles or birds, remove or damage eggs or nests
- damage or remove growing or dead trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or brush
- digging up or picking plants or parts of plants except berries and edible mushrooms
- bring an unleashed dog or other stray pet
- put up a board, poster, sign, poster or similar device or make an inscription
- destroy, remove or damage a fixed natural object or surface formation,
- damage fixed ancient monuments,
- use the area for competition or training purposes.
Surveys or research must be carried out in consultation with the County Administrative Board.
