**When Västervik was moved from Gamleby to its current location in 1433, the town was built around the ruins of Stegeholm Castle to resist the attacking Danes. Today, the ruin is best known as the venue for one of Sweden's oldest music festivals - the Visfestivalen i Västervik.
From the Castle Ruin's lookout point you have a lovely view of Gamlebyviken and the city center of Västervik.
