Skansparken och Rosenträdgården

Skansparken is located between the Krusenstiernska farm's plank and Bastion St. Erik. The walkway that runs through Skansparken is part of an older street. Here are preserved moats that surrounded medieval Kalmar. The moat in Skansparken was previously a popular drinking place for horse-drawn carriages on their way to and from Kalmar.

The rose garden is a gem in the park, the result of a collaboration with the Nordic rose societies. It includes several roses representing the different Nordic countries and Kalmar's own award-winning rose 'Royal Estelle', developed by rose breeder Rosa Eskelund in Denmark. The rose garden also includes a planting of POM roses (Program for Cultivated Diversity), cultivated plants that originate in Kalmar County.
