Beskrivelse
Rönnerum-Abbantorp is located in the middle of the Midlands Forest. Here you will find valuable deciduous forest with many exciting species. The Mittlandsleden trail runs through the area, passing Ismantorp Castle and Rönnerum's ancient village from the Iron Age.
Dominated by forest
The reserve is a fine example of what it looks like in Mittlandsskogen, the large contiguous deciduous forest area that spreads across central Öland. The forest is rich in deciduous trees such as oak, ash and elm. In Rönnerum-Abbantorp there is also an area with only hornbeam, which is considered to be Sweden's largest hornbeam forest!
Species rich
The list of unusual species in the reserve is long. Discerning lichens thrive here, which only grow on old broadleaf trees in forests with high and even humidity. Light-demanding soil fungi, with species such as the flower spider mite, the veil spider mite and the yellow-fleshed fox spider mite, also thrive in the area. What many of the unusual species have in common is that they are linked to a landscape that has been grazed for generations and where oak and beech have grown for a long time.
Diversity of plants
The reserve's forests are home to a rich grove flora, with sedges, violets and the occasional orchid. Ivy winds around the old tree trunks and among the grasses you can distinguish rarities such as shadow lobelia and woodruff. The reserve is also one of the few places on Öland where the rare forest veronica grows.
Well-known Iron Age village
There are a number of interesting ancient monuments in the reserve. Rönnerum's ancient village is one of Öland's most famous Iron Age environments. There are the remains of 18 house foundations and plenty of stone walls that served as fences for the Iron Age farmers' cattle. To the south is a burial ground with 80 graves in the form of round and rectangular stones. Outside the reserve are the visitor attractions Odens flisor and Ismantorps fornborg.

Rutevejledning
The area can be reached from the public road Högsrum-Ismantorp and via a small private road from Rönnerum village.Parking is available at Odens flisor and via a small private road from Rönnerum village. Mittlandsleden goes through the reserve.
Regler
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Drive any vehicle or craft off designated roads.
- Park a vehicle, caravan or trailer in a place other than designated parking spaces.
- Bring a dog or other animal that is not on a leash.
- Put up a board, sign, poster or similar device or make inscriptions.
- Make a fire.
- Damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations.
- Collecting loose rocks or removing pieces of bedrock.
- Picking or damaging mosses, lichens or wood fungi.
- Digging, pulling up or picking plants or plant parts. You may pick berries and edible mushrooms.
- Damage or remove trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or brush that are growing or dead.
If you have received permission from the County Administrative Board, you may:
- Use the area for orienteering competitions or shooting.
- Use the area for military exercises.
- Carry out commercial activities.
- Conduct surveys or research.
- Collecting insects.
Full regulations
C. Regulations according to Chapter 7, Section 30 of the Environmental Code on the right to travel and stay in the reserve and on order in general.
In addition to prohibitions and regulations in other legislation, it is prohibited to
- drive a vehicle or craft other than on the route established in the management plan.
- set up a caravan, camper, trailer or similar
- bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet
- put up a board, sign, poster or similar device or make an inscription
- make a fire
- destroy, remove or damage a fixed natural object or surface formation
- collect loose stones or remove pieces from the bedrock
- digging up or picking lichens, mushrooms, plants or parts of plants, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms for domestic use
- damage or remove growing or dead trees, stumps, bark, branches, bushes or brushwood
- without the permission of the County Administrative Board, use the area for shooting, orienteering or military exercises.
- conduct commercial activities without the permission of the County Administrative Board
- without the permission of the County Administrative Board, carry out collection, investigation or research.
