Beskrivelse
Möckelkullen rises 45 meters above the surroundings. The walk up to the top feels in the legs but make an effort! The reward is an outstanding view. If you get too tired, you can sit down on a bench and rest along the way or take a break and look at all the beautiful flowers growing in the tree-covered pasture.
Once upon a time...
An old fairy tale from the Oden region is about two giants. The giants were having fun digging a pit. They dug and dug and threw the earth into a big, round pile. The pit they dug became Enebygöl and the pile was eventually named Möckelkullen. Today, Möckelkullen is protected as a nature reserve. We no longer believe in giants, but know that the hill was formed during the Ice Age.
Memory from the ice age
Möckelkullen is made up of sand, gravel and stone. To understand how the hill was formed, we have to take a long journey back in time. All the way to the end of the Ice Age, when the ice melted and slowly but surely moved north. But then it got colder for a period about 11 000 years ago and the ice edge was more or less stationary. Water flowed out of the ice with sand, gravel and stones that built up ridges, hills and other landscapes in front of the ice edge. The Möckelkullen hill is just one of many glacial features that emerged in the area during this time.
Heat-loving insects
A variety of heat-loving insects have been found on the south side of the hill. Many have imaginative names such as the smoke-colored sack spider, hairy sack spider, narrow-spotted bastard swarmers, and wasp-like glass wings. Bagworms are an intriguing group of butterflies. Females are usually wingless. In some species, males are absent and reproduction occurs without fertilization. The caterpillars spin a sac in which they live, giving the butterfly family its name.

Regler
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations.
- Damage or remove growing trees, bushes or plants.
- Pick flowers.
- Bring dogs or other animals that are not on a leash.
- Camping or setting up a caravan.
- Make a fire.
- Disturbing the environment with loud noises such as music, video or radio.
- Driving any vehicle, bicycle or craft off designated roads.
Full regulations
C. Regulations under 10 5 of the Nature Conservation Act on what the public must observe within the reserve.
It is forbidden to:
- damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations
- damage or remove trees, bushes or plants, including flower picking,
- bring an unleashed dog or other domestic animal
- camping or pitching a caravan
- light a fire,
- use a radio, gramophone, tape recorder or similar in a disruptive manner, and
- ride a bicycle, motorized vehicle or other means of transport.
The prohibition at B:7 shall not prevent transportation for fishing and agricultural needs on the road to the west through the area adjacent to the fisherman's shed.
