Beskrivelse

Ljusterö is one of many excursion gems in the Tjust archipelago. Today a vacation paradise, once an island with small cultivated fields and quarries. Look for the traces of past human use and enjoy smooth rocks and inviting sandy beaches.

Wild and hilly

Ljusterö is one of several islands in Gudingefjärden that are protected as nature reserves. On some of the islands there is still a living archipelago agriculture, but Ljusterö has been left in nature's care. The island is hilly and several hills are quite high. In other words, it is difficult to get around in places, but along the west side there is a path that takes you through most of the nature reserve.

Conifers and leaves

The nature reserve is dominated by rocky areas with pine forests. Beneath the windswept trees, scrubland spreads out with heather, bilberries and lingonberries. In the south there is a deciduous garden with birch and wild apple. Where the deciduous garden turns into rocky ground there are small areas of dry meadow flora

with plants such as sedge, ragwort and lovage.
